A Greene school documentary

Our Mission

We develop leaders and citizens engaged in finding peaceful and sustainable solution to local and global challenges.
The Greene School
The Greene School works to develop leaders and citizens engaged in finding peaceful and sustainable solutions to local and global challenges. We have focused our efforts in engaging with our coastal community to protect and promote the environment.  This area of focus, fondly referred to as Our Place by the Sea, involves a year-long curriculum on sustainable development.  Together, we examined the sustainability of Rhode Island’s own social, financial, and environmental aspects through the study of historical patterns, science-based ocean development plans, and local interviews.
One of our final products is a student-made, half hour long documentary film about the stakeholders of the Block Island wind farm.  In addition, we’ve developed curriculum kits to educate middle school students about local impacts regarding wind energy.  Curriculum contains lesson plans, wind kits, printed texts, images, and other resources. To go along with this, we built websites intended for both peer and youth audiences.  These sites host digital content concerning sustainable development utilizing digital story maps, podcasts, and videos.  To culminate this expedition, our work will be exhibited at The Rhode Island Future Energy Symposium.  The Greene School hopes that our commitment for a green and stable world will be shared through this and inspire others to explore this movement.
